Our curriculum is expertly designed to provide you with a comprehensive knowledge base for your teaching career. You will master versatile instructional approaches suitable for all learner profiles and class sizes—from individuals to large cohorts.
The course content spans a range of modern delivery methods, including live, remote, and online teaching, alongside effective student support and assessment strategies.
The qualification is delivered across a flexible structure comprising three mandatory core units, preparing you fully for the post-16 education sector.
UNIT 1 (Theory): Understanding roles, responsibilities, and relationships in education and training.
UNIT 2 (Practical): Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches (including your 15-minute Micro-Teach).
UNIT 3 (Theory and application): Understanding assessment in education and training.
You must successfully complete all three core units to achieve the full Level 3 Award in Education and Training qualification.
UNIT 1: Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
UNIT 2: Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches.
Develop the practical skills required to plan, deliver, and evaluate engaging, inclusive educational sessions. As the practical benchmark of this unit, you will conduct a 15-minute micro-teaching session, allowing you to gain hands-on practice in a supportive setting.
UNIT 3: Understanding Assessment in Education and Training.
Gain an in-depth understanding of assessment principles, functions, and tracking methods. You will learn how to employ initial, formative, and summative assessments, involve learners in their own progress tracking, and deliver constructive feedback.
Our Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET3) is delivered through a flexible, remote-first model, expertly supported by targeted live instruction.
While you will complete the majority of your learning independently online, you are fully backed by dedicated tutor support and two interactive, hybrid-live workshops.
Led by highly experienced course tutors, these two live sessions bridge the gap between digital study and real-world teaching. They provide the practical, hands-on skills development required to excel as a tutor-trainer, while offering a valuable opportunity to collaborate with peers and receive expert guidance.
This hybrid approach ensures you receive the essential live interaction needed to master your teaching practice, without the commitment of a full, weekly workshop schedule, allowing you to complete your portfolio of evidence and assignments at a pace that suits you and fits around your other commitments.
QUALIFICATION CRITERIA
Your diploma qualification is awarded based on a comprehensive portfolio of evidence and observed assessments that prove both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Your portfolio is built progressively throughout your learning journey and includes a variety of coursework tasks, worksheets and case study assignments.
This is where you bring your learning to life. Your lesson planning skills will be assessed and a final practical assessment 'micro-teaching' session will be observed and reviewed.
Your competence is demonstrated through a comprehensive portfolio of evidence. This portfolio is built progressively throughout your learning journey and includes both theoretical and practical tasks.
You will complete a series of open-book written assignments and worksheets, one for each of the six units. These tasks are designed to confirm your understanding of the core principles of education and assessment before you undertake your practical observation. They require you to explain key concepts, describe responsibilities, and analyse different teaching and assessment methodologies.
Lesson & Session Planning: You will create a detailed plan for a short teaching or training session. This plan will outline your aims, objectives, learning activities, and assessment methods, showcasing your ability to design an inclusive and effective learning experience.
Live Observation: Your session will be observed by a qualified Tutor Assessor. To ensure the assessment meets your specific needs and context, this can be tailored to be a one-to-one session with an individual or a session delivered to a small group.
Peer Observations & Feedback: As part of the micro-teach, you will observe peers delivering a session and provide constructive feedback, a key skill for any educator. You will also receive valuable feedback from them on your own teaching skills to help you develop.
Session & Self-Evaluation: Following your delivery, you will complete a reflective evaluation, critically analysing your own performance to identify strengths and pinpoint areas for future professional development.
