When can I start my course?

Once you have received your login details and signed in you can start learning.

Every learner has their own preferences and personal requirements when it comes to their learning needs. We want to empower all of our learners to be able to study at their own pace - no need to wait for peers and no pressure to rush through anything if you require more time and further support - you are in control of your own progress!

How long will my course study take to complete?

Your course duration is controlled by you and your availability to commit to your studies.

Our hybrid-live approach means you are in control of your course duration.

The Diploma in Personal Training takes learners approximately twelve weeks to complete in most cases, however this can be adjusted to suit your personal needs as required. To complete the Diploma in twelve weeks, learners will typically dedicate 10-12 hours per week on their studies as a minimum commitment.

Can I take my course from anywhere or do I have to be in the UK?

Our diploma is accredited by ActiveIQ, the leading UK awarding body, for the fitness industry - and the UK fitness industry standards are recognised and held in high regards all of the world.

With our online and hybrid-live format, you do not have to be based in the UK to complete your diploma. You can study them from anywhere in the world!

As an internationally recognised qualification, all students receive the same certification and industry standard of recognition, regardless of their phycial location when completing the course.

If you plan to work as a Personal Trainer or Gym Instructor in a non-UK country, then you will need to check the governing body requirements in your own region regarding any additional requirements that may apply to gain employment or work as an independent professional. In most countries, a UK level 3 accredited qualification is recognised by the local governing body and you will just need to apply to have your qualification transferred over (plus hold the necessary insurances). As every country has its own requirements, we cannot give specific advice for each country, however, we know it is relatively simple to transfer your qualification to work in countries such as the UAE, Singapore, Brazil, India, USA, Europe, Australia, Canada and South Africa. Please speak to your course advisor if you have further questions.

Are there live classes to attend?

The live sessions allow you to hear directly from our expert tutor team whilst interacting with like-minded learners, benefitting from the 'classroom' effect.

You'll have the opportunity to ask questions to the course tutor and to chat with other learners in the class. It is a great way to broaden not only your knowledge but also your professional network within the fitness community.

Most classes are recorded and shared with all active learners undertaking the relevant course, meaning if you miss one you can always watch it back at a later time or rearrange to attend at another time.

How will I be assessed during my course?

During our Diploma in Personal Training course, there are multiple assessments and course assignments.

Summative assessments are the end of course exams, consisiting of three theory assessments and three practical assessments:

Open book, multiple choice theory exams:
Level 2 Principles of anatomy, physiology and fitness.
Level 3 Applied anatomy and physiology for exercise, health and fitness.
Principles of nutrition and their application to exercise and health.

Practical assessments:
Observed online client consultation (to support case study assignment).
Observed fitness environment induction.
Observed 1-to-1 personal training session (for the same client from your case study assignment and consultation).

Alongside the final practical and theory exams, during the course, learners will also need to produce two real world case studies and six coursework assignments.
 
Case study 1: Periodised (three phase) training programme for a newly acquired client, including:
Initial needs analysis questionnaire and food diary.
Physical activity readiness questionnaire and health commitment statement.
Educational guidance documentation for supporting client success.
Online (video recorded) 1-to-1 consultation appointment and follow up feedback support.
3 x training regimes, including workout plans for each scheduled day of the week - each phase/regime will progress safely, effective and suitably for the client's individual needs. 
 
The programmes designed and submitted for your periodised training plan case study will form the basis of your final practical assessment - where you will teach a live PT session with your client. ​

Case study 2: Professional fitness business plan proposal, including:
Initial business evaluation.
Market research.
Business overview.
Financial performance forecast.
Go to market strategy (and budget).

Assignment 1: Personal training competencies worksheet.​

The practical assessments are best completed in person at one of our partner gym/studio locations and learners are advised to travel to the venue with their selected client for the observed assessments. All other assignments and theory assessments are remote submissions that can be achieved from anywhere, all you need is a wifi enabled device and a suitable learning environment.

Do I need access to a gym for the assessments?

For some of our video assessments on the L2 Gym Instructing and L3 Personal Training course you will be required to demonstrate appropriate use of gym equipment. 
For these assessments, you will need to have access to a local gym, studio or a home gym with the correct equipment. 
Our assessments do not require in-person attendance however and as long as you meet the assessment criteria within your video submission, then you can complete your entire course without having to travel away from your home or local area.
All video assessments and any other task assignments are all submitted via your personal Academy portal alongside your learning materials. All criteria specific to any assessments or assigned tasks are clearly outlined for each and every unit/module/course once you are at the correct stage of your learning journey.

Are there fees for assessments, exams and reassessments?

Assessments and Re-Assessments are included within our course fees and you will not be charged extra for any requirement to retake at any time.

We also offer 'assessment buddies' to help you with assessment submissions if you need help in preparing your final course exam submissions. Assessment Buddies are available on a geographical availability basis and fees vary from buddy to buddy. Please speak with your course tutor if you would like to explore this additional support option during your course. This is not a requirement to complete your course, however it may help you in completing your course, depending on your personal network and circumstances.
